Self-Healing Paint Protection Film

High Gloss & Matte finishes available

Here at Auto Protek we offer a variety of self-healing paint protection films to suit your vehicle. Paint protection film is a vital investment to be made in keeping your vehicles paintwork in showroom like condition. We pre-cut all our paint protection film before installation via our Graphtec FC8600-160 cutting plotter to insure precision cutting and alignment. With our custom pre-cut template designs we have the ability to protect any panel exterior or interior. Weather it be a front bumper, bonnet, wings, side skirts, mirrors, lights, roof, or any other vulnerable areas.

Unlike other paint protection films that scratch, fade, stain or generate swirl marks over time, all the films we install utilize a self healing top coat layer. This eliminates swirl marks, light scratches and helps maintain the films cosmetic appearance over a longer period of time.

All paint protection films we carry offer a manufactures warranty. With up to 10-years manufacturers warranty against staining, peeling, cracking, yellowing, hazing and bubbling. With that being said as long as the paint protection film is maintained the clear coat can last indefinitely. We advise regular washing and waxing to keep the clear coat in top condition for years to come.

We have paint protection films to suit both high gloss paintwork and matte paintwork. Optically clear high-gloss films are designed to keep your vehicles original glossy finish in factory like condition whilst protecting your vehicles paintwork from the stone chips, scruff marks, scratches and swirl marks.

Our self-healing matte finish films have the same properties as clear high gloss but with the addition of a matte finish. This is best suited for vehicles with factory matte paintwork, but can also be applied to high gloss paintwork to give your vehicles original paintwork a matte look.

Ideal for keeping factory matte finish paintwork protected from stone chips, scuff marks, swirl marks and scratches while retaining the factory matte look.

Paint Protection Film FAQ

    • What is Paint Protection Film?

Our paint protection films are made from a tough, optically clear, flexible, self-healing, polyurethane film. It can be applied to any painted area requiring protection from stone chips, light scratches and other road debris.

    • How is it applied?

Before the paint protection film is applied to the vehicle, we design and pre-cut specific panel shapes using our precision cut Graphtec FC8600-160 plotter. This ensures that there is no need for cutting on the vehicle whatsoever and leaves a flawless & virtually invisible finish. Our pre-cut film designs are then applied using a specially formulated gel solution and squeegee method. We do not use heat to stretch or tack the film unlike vinyl or other paint protection films.

    • Is the Paint Protection Film guaranteed?

Yes, our manufactures offer 5, 7 and 10 years warranty against cracking, peeling, yellowing, hazing and bubbling.

    • Can it be removed?

Yes, our paint protection films can be safely removed if need be without leaving any residue.

    • Will my paintwork fade under the sun?

Yes, our paint protection films are designed to allow the suns UV rays to pass through the film so paintwork will fade at the same rate as unprotected paintwork in a uniform fashion.

    • Are there any special precautions or maintenance when washing the film?

No, you can wash and wax the vehicle just like you would any other car. In-fact we recommend waxing the paint protection film to help bring out the shine.

    • What happens if i scratch the film?

Our self-healing paint protection film uses a special polymer in its clear coat that flows even though it is cured. This allows the clear coat to find its natural level again after being disturbed on the surface.

    • How long does it take for a scratch to heal?

The time for a scratch to heal depends on the severity of the scratch and the ambient temperature. Minor scratches usually heal in one hour at room temperature (72°F). In warmer climates, healing time will be shorter. The healing process can be accelerated at any time by pouring hot water over the scratched area.

    • How many times will the clear coat heal itself?

With this technology, there is no limit to the number of times the clear coat can heal itself. As long as the clear coat is not penetrated it will heal over and over again.

    • How long will the clear coat last?

Depending on how the film is cared for, the clear coat can last indefinitely. Regular washing and waxing will keep the clear coat in top condition for years to come.

    • How does Xpel Ultimate Paint Protection Film resist staining?

The clear coat on Xpel Ultimate has a very low surface energy, which makes it extremely difficult for organic compounds to stick to the film. Insects, bird droppings and environmental contaminants (which would normally cause yellowing) such as road oils, exhaust smoke and pollution can be removed during regular washing.

    • What if a stain does not come off the film during normal washing?

If ordinary car wash or soap and water will not remove a stain, there are a variety products available to do the job. In most cases simple isopropyl rubbing alcohol will remove anything on the surface of the film. In cases of more severe staining, or where something has been left on the film for a long period of time, a sparing amount of lacquer thinner can be used. Bug and tar remover available at any auto parts store is also effective. If you are unsure about the use of any other chemical on the surface of the film, please contact us at 01344 627277 or email support@auto-protek.com for assistance."

    • How long should I wait to apply paint protection film if my car has been repainted?

Please check with your body shop who are carrying out the re-spray and see what they recommend. The time will vary depending on the paint system the body shop has used. In any case, the time that they recommend you should wait to wax the paint, is the same time you will need to wait to install paint protection film
